Father Anthony Meredith,IC
A potted biography

Father Anthony was born in Bradford,Yorkshire in August 1940 and was educated at Grace Dieu prep school and Ratcliffe College, Leicestershire ,both run by the Institute of Charity (Rosminian Fathers ).

Aged 20, he started his studies for the priesthood at St.John’s Seminary, Wonersh ,near Guildford, living at the nearby Rosminian House at Derryswoood. In 1966 he was ordained priest in St.Peter’s,Cardiff,a parish also in the care of the Institute.

From 1966 to 1973 he worked at Ratcliffe College in both pastoral work and administration. For ten years from 1973 to 1983 he served at Novice Master and Rector at Derryswood, near Wonersh and for almost thirteen years,from 1983 to 1995, as Rector at Ratcliffe College and Vicar for Religious in the Diocese of Nottingham, the diocese which includes Leicestershire.

From 1995 to 2001,he was Provincial (regional Head of the Institute) in England and Wales. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Regional Superior in India. He is currently based at the Generalitial Curia of the Institute of Charity at Porta Latina, Rome.We are very pleased to welcome Father Anthony as our retreat-giver at La Casa del Sorriso, Erice, Trapani,western Sicily,from 9th to 20th September 2009.

The Rosminians have the care of the Parish of S.Giuseppe Fontanelle,Via Marconi,241, at Trapani And the Parish of Maria SS. d. Purita, at Valderice, close to our retreat house.
